Asakusa Area “Shitamashi” walk

Kaminari mon
A 5 Km urban walk in the “shitamashi” low aea, around Asakusa. Easy walk from Kuramae to Asakusa station.

Torigoe Shrine
Starting from the Kuramae station, go perpendicular to the Edo dori, until the shinhori street, continue 3 more blocks and turn left, continue until the kuramae bashi street, on the left side there is the entrance for the Torigoe shrine (founded in 651).

Go back to Shinhori street and turn left and continue for four blocks, turn left again and continue until kokusai street, continue three more block and turn right again and continue two more blocks until Kuramae shrine (founded in 1693). This area is full of wholesale retailers; some of them also sell to regular customers at a discounted price.

Go left and continue until Kosusai street, turn right and continue until you reach kaminari street, the left side of the street is full of traditional stores in business for a long time, take time to visit some of them.

Continue until Kaminari gate, pass through the gate and visit the nakamise where the small shops sell a large variety of souvenirs.
Continue until Senso ji, turn left and visit the Asakusa Shrine at the left of Senso ji.

Go back and continue from the back of Senso ji and visit the small streets of Asakusa shoping district, taking a detour to the Edo shitamashi traditional arts museum, go back and continue until Asakusa station.

From Yumenoshima to odaiba

A 20 km scenic bike ride on the daiba waterfront and Yumenoshima. The course is mostly flat and no off road.
The start of the course is Shinkiba as there is a parking area at yumenoshima, but it can start from any of the sations of the yurikamome line.
Starting at Shinkiba station going to yumenoshima park, make sure that you visit the waterfront area on this park, cross meijidori and continue along until you go back to 357 road, continue along the road until you reach tatusmino mori park, cross sakura bridge and continue until you reach harumidori.



Continue along the road until you pass the Ariake tenis no mori park. Continue until you reach odaiba kaihin park, take a deturn to visit the daisandaiba park, go back to the course and ride along the odaiba kaihin park until you reach the shiokaze park, continue alomg the waterfront until you reach telecom center, you can enter the west promenade here, continue along the promenade, passing venus fort and palette town, when you reach the big site continue along JR train line until shinonome, continue along the main street until you reach harumi dori. You can see the start Shikiba station from there.

Kururi bike ride

This is a long scenic bike ride, in Chiba countryside, is not a difficult ride but is long and some of the roads have no so well marked intersections, so bring a phone along, fortunately the local people are friendly and eager to send you in the right direction.

The ride starts in Kazusa, mostly because there is a camp site there, where we normally stay, when we go for a ride there. from Kazusa follow the main road to Takataki, cross the bridge across the takataki lake and continue accross the lake line, continue along the kominato railway, until you reach Tukisaki, change direction now west toward kururi, once you reach kururi, go south toward the Kururi castle ruins, after a visit to the castle go back to Kururi and continue toward Makuta, You can follow route 410, along the JR Kururi line or take an scenic route along the route 145, nagaura kazusa line,. Once you reach Makuta continue east back to takataki and to the Kasuza base.


Ancient Lotus Walk in Gyoda

Beginners course on the Saitama countryside; the paths are with no hills that make this course also good for bicycle ride. From Kitakonosu to the gyoda lotus park via the ancient tombs.

The course start at the Kitakounosu on the takasaki line, walk toward the entrance of the sakitama greenway, there is a open air display of scultures along the way, continue along the musashi waterway, taking a small detour to visit the enfuku temple, return to the greenway until you reach the end. Turn right toward the Sakitama ancient burial mounds
, go out from exit 3 continue straight until crossing the small waterway, go up the main road until reaching the ancient lotus park.


Cultural walk around Ueno

Ueno park
Beginners course around Ueno park and surrounding cultural area. The area is full of site of great historical and artistic importance. Start at JR Ueno Station, continue to the center of the park and move to the Tokyo national museum, continue left around the art schools in the area, continue north up to the site of the Tennouji five story pagoda, which burned down in an arson, continue to sendaki station continue along Nippon medical school, cross Nezu shrine, continue until you reach Shinobazu pond, cross Ueno park, back to the starting point.

Around the Palace Walk


This is the most widely known and one of the simplest walks, due to its simplicity its virtually impossible to get lost. If your partner is not use to walking, this is the best route for initiation.
The course start on Tokyo station on marunouchi central gate, walk toward the plaza in front of the palace, continue to the left until reaching the sakuramon gate, continue around the palace until chitorigafuchi, continue north kitanomaru park, continue south passing takebashi, and otemon until reaching back to the plaza in front of the palace, the course finish back in Tokyo station, a brisk 7.2 Km walk.

Scenic hike starting from fisher village Nakofunabashi, first stop at Nako Kannon (Goddess of mercy), continue along the coastline, and hiking to the cliff kannon, erected on 717 to pray for the fisherman safety, continue along the coastline until reaching the cape daibou, there are several observation points there, continue along the cape until reaching the cost line route, continue straight until reaching the carnation planting area, continue up untilyou reach the Tomiura station on the Naibou line.
