Mukojima to Asakusa Sky tree viewing walk

A short 3Km walk on the Sumida ku, around the Sky tree tower, all the visited parks and temples provide an amazing frame to the newest Tokyo landmark.

Starting from Higashimukojima station, from the exit gate, walk along the train tracks until you pass the Tobu museum, cross under the tracks and continue until you reach the mukojima Mukojima-Hyakkaen garden.
The Mukojima-Hyakkaen garden, a flower garden not a Japanese garden, is the only surviving flower garden from the edo period, Hyakkaen mean garden with hundred flowers, the garden has flowers blooming throughout the four seasons.

After visiting the garden go back to the original route, and continue until you reach Bokutei Street, go left and continue along the street until you reach a Y intersection, continue to the left side on the smaller street and turn right on the next street light, continue a few meters until you reach the Chomei-ji temple.

On Chomei-ji temple, according to the legend Tokugawa Ieyasu rested here after feeling sick on one of his hunting trips, the temple priest mixed the medicine with the premises well water, Ieyasu recovered and named the temple well Chomei water, or long life water, the temple was renamed to honor this name.
Behind the temple, there are two famous Japanese confectionary stores Chomei-ji sakura mochi and the kototi dango.

Continuing down the route next to Chomei-ji, there is the Koufuku-ji a Chinese stile temple and a few meters down the route mimeguri jinja a beautiful Japanese shrine.

Continue down the street until reaching national route 6, take a left turn and continue along the street until reaching the narihirabashi station, this is the closer you can get to the sky tree tower at this moment, go back to the original route until reaching the Sumida park.

After the park walk towards the riverside and continue along the street until you reach the headquarters of Asahi beer, cross to the other side of the bridge to reach the final destination of Asakusa area.

Asakusa Area “Shitamashi” walk

Kaminari mon
A 5 Km urban walk in the “shitamashi” low aea, around Asakusa. Easy walk from Kuramae to Asakusa station.

Torigoe Shrine
Starting from the Kuramae station, go perpendicular to the Edo dori, until the shinhori street, continue 3 more blocks and turn left, continue until the kuramae bashi street, on the left side there is the entrance for the Torigoe shrine (founded in 651).

Go back to Shinhori street and turn left and continue for four blocks, turn left again and continue until kokusai street, continue three more block and turn right again and continue two more blocks until Kuramae shrine (founded in 1693). This area is full of wholesale retailers; some of them also sell to regular customers at a discounted price.

Go left and continue until Kosusai street, turn right and continue until you reach kaminari street, the left side of the street is full of traditional stores in business for a long time, take time to visit some of them.

Continue until Kaminari gate, pass through the gate and visit the nakamise where the small shops sell a large variety of souvenirs.
Continue until Senso ji, turn left and visit the Asakusa Shrine at the left of Senso ji.

Go back and continue from the back of Senso ji and visit the small streets of Asakusa shoping district, taking a detour to the Edo shitamashi traditional arts museum, go back and continue until Asakusa station.
