Mukojima to Asakusa Sky tree viewing walk

A short 3Km walk on the Sumida ku, around the Sky tree tower, all the visited parks and temples provide an amazing frame to the newest Tokyo landmark.

Starting from Higashimukojima station, from the exit gate, walk along the train tracks until you pass the Tobu museum, cross under the tracks and continue until you reach the mukojima Mukojima-Hyakkaen garden.

The Mukojima-Hyakkaen garden, a flower garden not a Japanese garden, is the only surviving flower garden from the edo period, Hyakkaen mean garden with hundred flowers, the garden has flowers blooming throughout the four seasons.

After visiting the garden go back to the original route, and continue until you reach Bokutei Street, go left and continue along the street until you reach a Y intersection, continue to the left side on the smaller street and turn right on the next street light, continue a few meters until you reach the Chomei-ji temple.

On Chomei-ji temple, according to the legend Tokugawa Ieyasu rested here after feeling sick on one of his hunting trips, the temple priest mixed the medicine with the premises well water, Ieyasu recovered and named the temple well Chomei water, or long life water, the temple was renamed to honor this name.

Behind the temple, there are two famous Japanese confectionary stores Chomei-ji sakura mochi and the kototi dango.

Continuing down the route next to Chomei-ji, there is the Koufuku-ji a Chinese stile temple and a few meters down the route mimeguri jinja a beautiful Japanese shrine.

Continue down the street until reaching national route 6, take a left turn and continue along the street until reaching the narihirabashi station, this is the closer you can get to the sky tree tower at this moment, go back to the original route until reaching the Sumida park.

After the park walk towards the riverside and continue along the street until you reach the headquarters of Asahi beer, cross to the other side of the bridge to reach the final destination of Asakusa area.

Kaminakazato to Ueno walk

Almost 10K of urban walk with gardens, temples, and cultural sites stops. The walk starts on Kaminakazato JR station, go up the hill in front of the station until you reach Hongo street, Hiratsuka temple is located on that crossing, cross the street and continue to left until you reach the magnificent Kyu-furukawa gardens a block ahead. Follow the street as is bends right, continue walking along for around 25 minutes until you get to the entrance of the rikuguen. Continue walking along the street for 40 minutes until you reach mukagaoka high school, turn left and continue until you reach Nippon Medical school hospital, make a small detour to your left to visit the site where the house of the writer Natsume Soseki use to be located. Walk back to the the Nippon Medical school and continue down the road until you reach Nezu shirne, walk to the shrine grounds and exit on the opposite side, turn right and make your way back to Hongo street. Once on Hongo Street, go left until you reach the red gate of Tokyo university, make sure you visit the pond inside, unless there is an special event entrance is allowed. Go back to the red gate and continue on Hongo street until you reach Kasuga street, continue to the left until you reach Yushima tengu shrine, continue along kasuga street until; you reach the Yushima station, turn left now and walk to Shinobasu pond and to Ueno park to finish this walk.

Ancient Lotus Walk in Gyoda

Beginners course on the Saitama countryside; the paths are with no hills that make this course also good for bicycle ride. From Kitakonosu to the gyoda lotus park via the ancient tombs.


The course start at the Kitakounosu on the takasaki line, walk toward the entrance of the sakitama greenway, there is a open air display of scultures along the way, continue along the musashi waterway, taking a small detour to visit the enfuku temple, return to the greenway until you reach the end. Turn right toward the Sakitama ancient burial mounds
, go out from exit 3 continue straight until crossing the small waterway, go up the main road until reaching the ancient lotus park.

Cultural walk around Ueno

Beginners course around Ueno park and surrounding cultural area. The area is full of site of great historical and artistic importance. Start at JR Ueno Station, continue to the center of the park and move to the Tokyo national museum, continue left around the art schools in the area, continue north up to the site of the Tennouji five story pagoda, which burned down in an arson, continue to sendaki station continue along Nippon medical school, cross Nezu shrine, continue until you reach Shinobazu pond, cross Ueno park, back to the starting point.

Around the Palace Walk

This is the most widely known and one of the simplest walks, due to its simplicity its virtually impossible to get lost. If your partner is not use to walking, this is the best route for initiation.
The course start on Tokyo station on marunouchi central gate, walk toward the plaza in front of the palace, continue to the left until reaching the sakuramon gate, continue around the palace until chitorigafuchi, continue north kitanomaru park, continue south passing takebashi, and otemon until reaching back to the plaza in front of the palace, the course finish back in Tokyo station, a brisk 7.2 Km walk.

Nakofunagata to Tomiura bayroute

Scenic hike starting from fisher village Nakofunabashi, first stop at Nako Kannon (Goddess of mercy), continue along the coastline, and hiking to the cliff kannon, erected on 717 to pray for the fisherman safety, continue along the coastline until reaching the cape daibou, there are several observation points there, continue along the cape until reaching the cost line route, continue straight until reaching the carnation planting area, continue up untilyou reach the Tomiura station on the Naibou line.
